The Havant Orchestras - November Concerts
The Havant Orchestras invite you to two special concerts in November.
Mozart Masterpieces: Havant Chamber Orchestra
On Sunday, November 22 at Hayling Island Community Centre at 4.30pm, join Havant Chamber Orchestra and our conductor, Robin Browning for an an afternoon devoted to Mozart’s brilliance and variety.
Some composers seem to belong to every age — and Mozart is surely one of them. His music can be sparkling and mischievous, graceful and intimate, full of theatrical wit one moment and profound beauty the next. Like the many portraits on our gallery wall, there are countless ways of seeing Mozart, but his extraordinary voice remains unmistakable.
The concert begins with the exuberant overture to a comic singspiel, The Impresario before immersing us in the warmth and lyricism of one of Mozart’s most beloved works, the Clarinet Concerto in A Major, played by our talented soloist, the clarinettist, Rob Blanken. We finish the evening in grand style with Mozart’s brilliant ‘Linz’ Symphony no 36.
Tide and Tempest: Havant Symphony Orchestra
A week later, on Saturday, November 28 at Oaklands School Concert Hall, Waterlooville at 7.30pm, prepare to be swept away by a concert inspired by the power, mystery and ever-changing moods of the sea.
Under the baton of Ben Querishi, the evening begins with Wagner’s dramatic Flying Dutchman Overture launching us into a world of storms, legend and relentless waves, before Britten’s Four Sea Interludes paints the sea in all its shifting colours — from eerie stillness to crashing tempest.
Then set sail for distant shores with Rimsky-Korsakoff’s dazzling Scheherazade, where exotic melodies, swashbuckling adventure and richly coloured orchestration bring the tales of the Arabian Nights vividly to life.
From dark and turbulent waters to shimmering horizons, Tide and Tempest promises an exhilarating evening of orchestral storytelling. Batten down the hatches — this is one voyage you won’t want to miss!
Tickets for both concerts are available to purchase from TicketSource via our website havantorchestras.org or via telephone 0333 666 3366. Seats are going fast so booking early is recommended!
