Taxing issues at free events held by Hampshire's HWB Chartered Accountants

A Hampshire-based accountancy firm is staging a series of free advisory events covering different aspects of tax.

The HWB Chartered Accountants events will spotlight property, personal tax and family companies and are open to all.

Senior HWB staff will be on hand to offer help and guidance at two webinars and one in-person seminar.

First up, on April 28 from noon to 1pm is the webinar Properties – How they are taxed and should you incorporate?

The informal tax seminar will cover the taxation of rental income for individuals and companies, looking at the circumstances in which a company is or is not more tax efficient, as this is not a ‘one size fits all’ solution.

Presented by tax director Gemma Hedges, the online event will also cover various other tax implications of different ownership, including Making Tax Digital (MTD), Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED), and the tax implications of transferring investment property into a company.

On June 4, Southampton-based HWB is hosting an in-person breakfast event on Top Tips for business and personal tax at Axis Conference Centre, Southampton Science Park, from 8 to 10am.

The firm’s team of experts will be offering their recommendations for business and personal tax planning.

On July 14 a webinar on family investment companies (FIC’s) will be held online from noon to 1pm

Also led by Gemma, this free tax webinar compliments the previous, covering the pros and cons of FICs, whether utilised for trades, property or other forms of investment.

It will cover how FICs work, when they are advantageous and when they can actually make your tax position worse.

Gemma said: “We offer these events as a free resource to both clients and non-clients as a way of imparting our specialist sector knowledge on important matters.

“Tax impacts on all our lives and our job is to help you understand the complexity and scale of both business and personal tax issues and help you manage finances, protect family wealth and avoid unnecessary tax bills.”
