Stagecoach South goes 'Phizz-whizzing' for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity on its 35th anniversary and city's centenary
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, Stagecoach colleagues in Portsmouth swapped their uniforms for golden tickets and giant peaches.

On 8 May, the Stagecoach depot in Portsmouth, Hampshire transformed into a world of pure imagination for a special roadshow event aimed at raising vital funds and awareness for specialist nursing care.
The event held extra significance as it coincided with a landmark year for the local community, with Portsmouth celebrating 100 years of city status. As the city reflects on a century of history, Stagecoach and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity are looking toward a future of continued support for children with complex, lifelong conditions.

The day featured:
Specialist Roald Dahl Nurses on-site who shared insights into their life-changing work supporting children with complex lifelong conditions.
Marvin the Marvellous Mascot, the charity’s beloved mascot, who made a star appearance.
A depot-wide bake sale to raise vital funds for specialist nursing care
Since the partnership launched last year, the roadshow has travelled to five other locations across the UK. To date, the charity has directly engaged with approximately 100–150 Stagecoach colleagues, with a further 700 staff members reached through internal communications and roadshow activity.
Marc Reddy, Managing Director of Stagecoach South, commented: "We are incredibly proud to host this roadshow at our Portsmouth depot during such a landmark year. Not only are we supporting the charity's 35th anniversary, but we are doing so as our fantastic city celebrates its own centenary. Our colleagues have truly embraced the spirit of the day, though seeing Marvin the charity’s marvellous mascot behind a steering wheel might be a first for us! It’s an honour to play a part in the charity's 35-year legacy while celebrating 100 years of Portsmouth."

Sophie Fanning-Tichborne, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity added: "Our partnership with Stagecoach has been truly 'marvellous' in helping us reach new audiences. These roadshows give Roald Dahl Nurses the opportunity to share the reality of their vital work directly with the Stagecoach frontline teams who keep the UK moving. We are so grateful to the Portsmouth team for their enthusiasm and support.
