Rowans Hospice launches “Moments & Memories” appeal and summer remembrance event to support vital end-of-life care
Rowans Hospice is inviting the community to unite behind its “Moments & Memories” appeal, a moving initiative inspired by the meaningful moments, lasting memories, and compassionate care that define end-of-life support.

Every day, Rowans Hospice supports patients and their families through some of life’s most challenging and emotional moments. Whether it’s holding a hand in the final hours, helping someone remain at home surrounded by loved ones, or offering comfort to those facing loss, the Hospice is there when it matters most.
Amy Russell, Clinical Lead at Rowans Hospice, says: “Our team will never forget one patient who married her partner here at the Hospice. Her wish was simple: to enjoy one last ice cream in the sunshine. On her wedding day, we arranged a surprise visit from an ice cream van and gently wheeled her bed down the corridor, her husband by her side. In that moment, surrounded by love and laughter, she was simply herself — enjoying ice cream with the person she loved.”

However, like many hospices across the UK, the Waterlooville-based charity faces increasing financial pressures:
“Every day, we help create moments that matter — moments of comfort, togetherness, laughter, and love. Moments that families will carry with them forever. But we cannot do it without your support.
We rely on the generosity of our community to raise 78% of our income, ensuring our services remain free of charge for those who need us most,” says Amy.
The “Moments & Memories” appeal aims to ensure that Rowans can continue creating meaningful moments for patients and their loved ones.
As part of the appeal, Rowans Hospice will host a summer remembrance event, offering a space for people to come together to honour those they have lost, share stories, and reflect on the moments that shaped their lives.
The Moments & Memories event will be held on Sunday 14 June, at the beautiful Holywell Estate in Swanmore, starting at 2:00pm. Tickets are free for those supporting the appeal, with free on-site parking and refreshments available to purchase.
As a token of thanks, those who donate £30 or more will have their dedication included in the Order of Service booklet for the event. They will also receive a limited-edition forget-me-not flower ornament, hand-crafted at Morrell’s Forge.
Amy concludes; “Whether you are able to join us for our event in June or support us from afar, your kindness and generosity allow us to be there for every family who needs us. Please consider making a dedication in memory of a loved one.”
