Repair Café Havant celebrates gift of “Pen Art” from Creatful’s Nancy Fellows

Repair Cafe Havant has announced the donation of a striking new artwork created by founder of Creatful, Nancy Fellows. The piece, assembled from two years’ worth of discarded pen cartridges collected in Fellows’ “pen graveyard,” has been lovingly repurposed onto a canvas and now finds its home with Repair Cafe Havant and the Havant Library of Things.

“I always save all our empty pens in my pen grave yard,” says Fellows. “When I have enough, I make art and donate it to a local community group or charity. This is around two years of empty pens simply added to a repurposed canvas.”

The artwork embodies the ethos of the Repair Cafe: turning everyday waste into functional, creative solutions. Its vibrant composition of colour‑coded pen bodies and nibs forms a sun burst of colour.

“Nancy’s donation is more than a visual treat—it’s a tangible reminder of why we do what we do,” says Philippa Gray, one of the Repair Cafe Havant organisers. “It is on display in the Old Parcels Office in Havant Station, inspiring visitors to see the value in every discarded object and encouraging them to bring their own items for repair.”

Repair Cafe Havant, a volunteer‑run hub that offers free repair advice and workshops, has become a focal point for the borough’s growing circular‑economy movement. The new artwork was celebrated on 7 March 2026, during the regular monthly Repair Café at the Pallant Centre.
