Pupils Raise Over £300 for Rowans Hospice as 'Angel' Holly Deacon Rescues Purbrook Park Prom Teens in Style

The Class of 2026 from Purbrook Park School has given Portsmouth another reason to be proud, thanks to an unforgettable act of local kindness.

On Wednesday, June 17, friends, grandparents, and neighbours lined the street to send off pupils Kit Benham Wyatt and George Wheeler both aged 16 to their prom at the Utilita Bowl.

When transport plans fell through, Holly Jay Deacon stepped in, offering to drive the boys in her stunning white Bentley.

Holly, who had the car specially cleaned, and said beforehand: “I have just had her cleaned so she is looking lovely and sparkly!” She was equally impressed by her passengers, commenting: “What lovely young men they both are.”

The arrival at the venue was a highlight. George Wheeler said with a laugh: “We both laughed when two teachers shook their head when we arrived! Having an international playboy star chauffeur us to prom will ultimately be unforgettable, her car was amazing too.”

True to the community spirit of the evening, Holly refused payment for the journey and instead asked the family to donate to Rowans Hospice. With the support of family, they raised just over £300 for the local charity.

Sophia Benham, Kit’s mum, said: “Holly really was an angel in disguise. When we were struggling to find travel to the prom, the fact that she was then so kind and generous offering a donation to Rowans made mine and my family’s day.”

Kit Benham Wyatt added: “We had a great evening at the prom, even getting to watch the England match. Our best part was the journey thanks to Holly, and George and I are pleased to support our local hospice with the funds raised thanks to Holly's kind heart.”
