Portsmouth pupil enjoys an egg-citing birthday present
Adelaide, a Year 5 pupil at Portsmouth High School, recently delighted her classmates by sharing news of a very special birthday present she received in March: a clutch of quail eggs.
Carefully incubated at home, the eggs hatched successfully over the Easter weekend, giving Adelaide the opportunity to observe first-hand the fascinating life cycle of birds.
From monitoring temperature and humidity to watching the tiny chicks emerge from their shells, the experience has been a valuable practical lesson in responsibility, animal care and biology.
Adelaide is now the proud owner of eight baby button quail, who are thriving under her attentive care, and her experience has sparked curiosity and thoughtful discussion among her peers about animal development and welfare.
