Portsmouth High School GDST Year 6 bring The Tempest to life
Portsmouth High School's Year 6 production was Shakespeare's final play
Portsmouth High School's Year 6 delighted everyone with a vibrant musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, performed in the Senior School Hall. The girls displayed an impressive range of talents through confident acting, lively singing, and energetic dance routines. The play was a mix of modern English with some of the famous lines from the real play mixed in, combining dramatic moments with humour and music.

The production told the story of Prospero, a powerful magician, and the rightful Duke of Milan, who lived on a mysterious island with his daughter Miranda. With the help of the airy spirit Ariel, Prospero conjured up a storm to shipwreck his enemies on the island. As princes and nobles wandered the strange place, monsters and clowns plotted silly schemes, a prince and a young woman fell in love, and magic led not to revenge, but to forgiveness.
The audience was thoroughly entertained, and it was a wonderful opportunity to see Year 6 bringing Shakespeare to life in such a creative and memorable way.
