Portsmouth filmmaker premieres sci-fi film at London charity event supporting Palestinian aid

A Portsmouth-born filmmaker is set to premiere his latest sci-fi short film as part of a London charity event aimed at raising funds for humanitarian aid.

Finn O’Toole, 24, who trained in acting before moving into writing and directing, has created No One Can Hear You, a genre-led short exploring contemporary social and political themes through a sci-fi lens. The film will premiere at REEL CHANGE, a charity screening he has curated, taking place at Genesis Cinema in London on May 16th.

The event will showcase a diverse programme of emerging films, including BAFTA-winning work, alongside comedy, documentaries, and special guest appearances. All proceeds from the screening will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians, supporting vital healthcare services in the region.

Speaking about the project, Finn said: “I’ve always been drawn to storytelling that blends genre with real-world themes. With REEL CHANGE, the aim is not only to share exciting new films with audiences, but to create something that can make a tangible difference.”

As well as writing and directing the film, Finn also plays a leading role, reflecting his continued work across both performance and filmmaking.

REEL CHANGE marks the first year of what Finn hopes will become a recurring event, championing up-and-coming talent while using film as a platform for positive impact.

The screening will take place on Saturday May 16th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm at Genesis Cinema, Mile End. Tickets are available at reelchange.uk
