Portsmouth entrepreneur Rachel Lowe MBE creates exclusive centenary board game - Destination Portsmouth100 - in support of Cash for Kids
Destination Portsmouth has a whole new look for the city’s centenary year
Rachel Lowe MBE, creator of the iconic Destination Board Game series, has created a special centenary edition of Destination Portsmouth to celebrate Portsmouth’s 100th anniversary since being granted city status in 1926.

The project will support Cash for Kids South Coast, a charity dedicated to helping children living in poverty across our region.
The exclusive Destination Portsmouth100 takes players on a ‘journey through time’ and will feature 100 iconic destinations, historical landmarks, independent businesses and cultural locations spanning a full century of Portsmouth’s history from 1926 to 2026. The project combines heritage, tourism, education, entertainment and community engagement, creating a collectible keepsake that celebrates Portsmouth’s past, present and future.
Some of the historical destinations featured will include Chapman’s Laundry, the McMurdo Factory, Hilsea Gas Works, The Odeon Cinema, Victoria Swimming Baths, The Tricorn Centre and U-Need-Us, while Portsmouth’s nightlife will be celebrated through destinations including Mecca Locarno, The Birdcage, 5th Avenue, The Cambridge and many more treasured memories from across the city.

“Portsmouth is where the Destination story began, so creating a centenary edition of the game to celebrate 100 years of Portsmouth’s city status feels like a full-circle moment,” said Rachel Lowe MBE, Founder of Rachel Lowe Games & Puzzles. “I want to see as many Portsmouth businesses and landmarks represented in this game as possible, and I’d encourage anyone who loves this city to get involved. I’ve been working with Cash for Kids for several years, and it is a charity very close to my heart. I’m proud to have created an opportunity to raise funds that will directly benefit children in Portsmouth.”
As part of the project, Destination Board Games has allocated more than half of the Destination sponsorship opportunities within the game to Cash for Kids South Coast to help raise funds for local children. Local businesses are invited to sponsor one of the featured historical destinations, receiving recognition within the board game and accompanying Heritage Guide. All sponsorship secured through the Cash for Kids team will be donated by Destination Board Games to Cash for Kids South Coast to support children living in poverty across the region.
Southsea Laser Clinic, located in Marmion Road, Southsea, has become the first business to support the initiative, choosing to sponsor Marilyn’s Floral Boutique as the first official Destination within the game.
The long-established florist closed its doors in 2020. Southsea Laser Clinic, based within the Grade II listed building where Marilyn’s once stood, is proud to help preserve Portsmouth’s history, while the project supports local children through Cash for Kids.

Managing Director Hannah Hooper said: “We are honoured to be part of the Destination Portsmouth100 project, which keeps Portsmouth’s memories alive by celebrating the businesses and places that came before us. Knowing that our sponsorship will be donated by Destination Board Games to Cash for Kids makes it even more meaningful.”
Lisa Congdon, Cash for Kids South Coast, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Rachel and the Destination team on this incredible project and can’t thank Rachel enough for her generosity and support. Destination Portsmouth100 is a wonderful way to celebrate the city’s centenary while making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families across our region. The sponsorship opportunities allocated to Cash for Kids will help us support the children who need us most.”
Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, said: “Destination Portsmouth100 is a fantastic example of how Portsmouth businesses can come together to celebrate our centenary while making a real difference locally. It perfectly captures the spirit of Portsmouth100 by showcasing our city’s rich history, encouraging community involvement and supporting an important cause for children and families across Portsmouth.”
Cash for Kids aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people affected by poverty, illness, neglect or additional needs. In 2025 alone, Cash for Kids South Coast raised more than £720,000 and helped over 20,000 children across the region.
Destination Portsmouth100 will be launched at the close of the Portsmouth100 celebrations this Christmas, creating a lasting legacy for the city’s centenary.
