Music Matters: Wallowing in 1990’s nostalgia
The 1990s were a musical decade that gave us everything from the Spice Girls to rave music and much more besides including glorious Britpop. One of the top local bands that celebrate Britpop is Honeypark that were originally active in the Chichester and Bognor Regis areas in the late 1990s.

Honeypark reformed in January 2019 after a 15 year hiatus to play a charity event at The Waverley pub in Bognor Regis – they are still going strong and delighting audiences across the area playing the music of Blur, Oasis, James, Travis, Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream, Supergrass, Radiohead and other great 1990’s bands.
They have a run of gigs coming up and will be performing at the The Lion in Pagham on Friday, 2 October, The Station Inn, Bognor Regis on Saturday 3 October, The Ship Inn, Emsworth on Saturday 10 October and The Fountain, Chichester on Saturday, 7 November.

You can find Honeypark on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with the latest gig listings. They are cracking performers that really do justice to the Britpop anthems of the 1990s and my mate Damo is the bass player so do check them out!
My musical gem: Staying with the 90’s, the band Shed Seven – formed in York in 1990 - had a string of hits in the mid to late part of the decade including the songs ‘Going For Gold’, ‘Getting Better’, and the utterly sublime ‘Chasing Rainbows’.
They have released a new single called ‘The Centre of My Everything’ which is pretty tasty and comes from their forthcoming studio album ‘Shed Seven’ which will be released in January. The band will also be doing stripped back live sets followed by album signings at various record shops in January – the closest to us on the coast will be Vinilo in Southampton on the afternoon of 9 January 2027 and Resident in Brighton later in the day.
