Care UK’s Parker Meadows is inviting people to cheer on their nation ahead of a huge summer of sport by joining residents and team members for a very special table football tournament on Saturday 20th June from 1pm–3.30pm

Guests are invited to let their competitive spirit shine in a series of head-to-head matches to secure their spot in the finals, where the winner of the day will be crowned.

There will also be a host of stalls to browse, featuring books, handbags and sensory toys, as well as a raffle with numerous prizes to be won. All proceeds will be going to Wessex Neurological Centre, which provides care and support to those living with a range of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.

Guests who also make a donation to the charity will be treated to a delicious barbecue prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Mike Callaway, while sipping on Pimm’s and other refreshments.

Resident Ray Moore, said: “The World Cup reminds me of one of my first ever memories being carried on my father’s shoulders along the Mall in London after England had won the World Cup in 1966.”

The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Goal-den Moments' initiative, which aims to bring generations together and help residents reminisce about cherished football memories with the local community.

Lukasz Mikolaj Irzabek, Home Manager at Parker Meadows, said: “As football fever sweeps the country, we can’t wait to welcome the community for some matchday magic.

“This special event allows us to honour residents’ lifelong passion for the sport. For many, football goes beyond the roar of the terraces – it represents a lifetime of treasured memories and traditions.

“It’s also a wonderful opportunity to bring the people of Fareham together, enjoy the summer of sport and share their favourite football stories.”
