Hovertravel to launch new website and advanced booking system
Hovertravel is set to unveil a brand-new website and upgraded booking system on Tuesday 2nd June, which it says marks a significant step forward in customer experience and operational efficiency.

The newly launched platform has been completely re-designed to deliver a cleaner, more modern and engaging user experience as passengers book travel between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
The redevelopment was shaped in part by feedback gathered from customers and the Hovertravel Users Group (HUG), with requests for an easier-to-navigate website and enhanced online tools to enable customers to book travel and manage their own accounts with greater ease.
Built with a mobile-first approach, the website ensures optimal performance across all devices, while improved usability and accessibility features make it easier than ever for customers to find information and book their travel.
With full cross-browser compatibility, users can expect a consistent, high-quality experience regardless of how they access the site. The new system also integrates seamlessly with Hovertravel’s booking platform, enabling fast, reliable and secure transactions, alongside real-time updates.
Accessibility has been a key focus of the redevelopment. The site is compliant with recognised accessibility standards and includes the Recite Me assistive technology tool, ensuring an inclusive experience for all users.
In a further enhancement, customers can now book freight services online, selecting their preferred crossing, with parcel weights confirmed at check-in for a smoother process.
Alongside the digital upgrades, Hovertravel has introduced new technology and operational improvements within its terminals. The new booking system enables a more flexible approach to check-in, allowing staff to scan tickets in multiple locations depending on demand – whether at the entrance, in the waiting area, or near the boarding point. This means that at quieter times, customers may simply enter the terminal and take a seat until called forward.
Terminal spaces have also been enhanced, with expanded landside areas providing more indoor queuing capacity during peak periods, as well as increased seating. While external queues may still be required during exceptionally busy times, the improvements are designed to significantly enhance comfort and flow.
Additionally, terminal layouts have been refined, with check-in desks repositioned to create more space for passengers. Ticketing and check-in scanning points are now clearly defined and separated, helping to streamline the overall experience.
Speaking about the launch, Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, said: “This new website represents a major step forward for Hovertravel. We’ve created an intuitive, engaging and significantly improved user experience that reflects the quality of service we provide. Feedback from our customers and the Hovertravel Users Group has played an important role in shaping the new platform, helping us to deliver a website that is easier to navigate and gives customers greater control over their bookings and accounts. It’s more than just a visual refresh – it’s a dynamic window into Hovertravel’s evolving capabilities, supported by technology that makes travelling with us simpler and more accessible than ever.”
The launch of the new platform reinforces Hovertravel’s commitment to innovation, bringing new technology to the world’s favourite hovercraft operator while maintaining the speed, reliability and convenience customers have come to expect.
