On Sunday 6 September, pilot Gee, engineer Brendan, HR Manager Poppy, Terminal Supervisors Terri and James will descend the landmark tower in support of the charity, which provides vital hospice, end-of-life and bereavement care for people and families across the Isle of Wight. The challenge forms part of Hovertravel's long-standing support for Mountbatten, which has included many years of backing fundraising initiatives such as Walk the Wight.

The five-strong team is encouraging customers, colleagues, friends and the wider community to support their fundraising efforts, with every donation helping Mountbatten continue providing compassionate care to Islanders when they need it most. Mountbatten relies heavily on charitable donations to fund its specialist services across the Island.

Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, said: "We're incredibly proud of our team members for taking on this challenge. Whether they're flying hovercraft across the Solent, maintaining our fleet, supporting our people or welcoming customers through our terminals, they all share a commitment to serving our community. Taking on a 100-metre abseil is a remarkable demonstration of that commitment, and we're delighted to support them as they raise funds for the outstanding work of Mountbatten."

The Spinnaker Tower abseil will see participants descend more than 100 metres down one of the South Coast's best-known landmarks, offering spectacular views across Portsmouth Harbour, the Solent and the Isle of Wight. If they are brave enough to look, the team might also enjoy a unique bird's-eye view of the hovercraft travelling across the Solent as they make their way down the tower.

Anyone wishing to support the Hovertravel team can donate via their JustGiving fundraising page at JustGiving. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help Mountbatten continue providing expert care and support to local families.
