The extra services have been introduced in response to strong forward bookings, with many customers taking advantage of the long weekend to enjoy day trips, short breaks and visits to the Isle of Wight.

Hovertravel’s unique operational flexibility means the company can respond quickly to peaks in demand. With a crossing time of under 10 minutes and rapid turnaround times at both terminals, the hovercraft service is ideally suited to adding capacity when customers need it most.

Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, said: “The combination of a sunny forecast and a Bank Holiday weekend has led to a significant increase in demand for travel to and from the Isle of Wight. Thanks to the flexibility of our operation, we’ve been able to add 46 extra crossings for the weekend and the following half-term holiday to help more customers travel at the times that suit them best.

“Whether customers are heading to the Island for a day out, a family visit or a relaxing weekend away, our additional services provide even more choice and convenience.”

Hovertravel offers the fastest route across the Solent, connecting Southsea and Ryde in less than ten minutes. The service is popular with both visitors and residents, particularly during busy holiday periods when travel demand increases.

Customers planning to travel over the Bank Holiday weekend are encouraged to check the updated interactive timetable on the Hovertravel website, where all additional flights are now available to view and book.
