HMS Collingwood RNVCC cadets deliver Easter cheer to QA Hospital’s paediatric A&E

Cadets from HMS Collingwood Royal Naval Volunteer Cadet Corps (RNVCC) have helped spread Easter joy by collecting and donating a large number of Easter eggs to the Paediatric A&E Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The community‑minded initiative, organised by the unit’s staff and cadets, saw children aged nine to 16 rally together to gather chocolate treats for young patients spending time in hospital over the Easter period. The donation aims to bring a smile to children and families who may be facing a challenging or stressful visit to the emergency department.

CPO (VCC) Sansom, Commanding Officer of HMS Collingwood RNVCC, praised the cadets’ enthusiasm and compassion. “Our cadets wanted to do something meaningful for local children who might not be able to enjoy Easter in the usual way. Their commitment to helping others truly reflects the values we try to instil within the RNVCC.”

Staff at QA Hospital’s Paediatric A&E expressed their gratitude for the generous delivery, noting the positive impact small gestures can have on young patients and their families during difficult moments.

This is just one of many community projects supported by HMS Collingwood RNVCC, which continues to encourage local young people to develop teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The unit hopes to make this Easter donation an annual tradition and is already planning future opportunities to support the wider community.
