High Sheriff of Hampshire due to take the plunge at Spinnaker Tower to raise funds for community foundation
High Sheriff of Hampshire due to take the plunge at landmark tower to raise funds for community foundation.

The High Sheriff of Hampshire, William Maltby, will take on the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth when he abseils the 100-metre drop on September 19 at 11am.
Not content with undertaking the challenge alone, he has also roped in Jacqui Scott, the chief executive of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) – the charity he is raising funds for.
At the time of writing, the High Sheriff has already raised £7,150 from 1,324 donations.
HIWCF is an independent grant making charity distributing grants to community groups working with the most disadvantaged communities in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
The High Sheriff said: "I'm taking on this challenge because I believe every community deserves the support of a thriving local charity sector. During my year as High Sheriff, I have seen first-hand the extraordinary difference Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation makes by supporting the local charities and community groups that hold our communities together. I hope this challenge will shine a light on their work and ensure even more people and communities can benefit in the years ahead."
The High Sheriff and HIWCF CEO will be guided down the tower by specialist instructors based at Spinnaker Tower.
