Hayling Island care home enjoys a pancake bonanza
Wimborne Care Home on Hayling Island is known as a very caring care home with plenty going on and lots to do, for those who fancy it. Last week has been exciting for they have celebrated pancake day. Residents enjoyed flipping and tossing, squeezing lemons and sprinkling sugar, the range of toppings sparked much laughter and conversation!
Staff and residents had a discussion about rolling or folding pancakes – each holding firm to their preferred approach. As for toppings, there was a definite divide – the ‘true traditionalists’ and the ‘lots go for it brigade’ – for whom fruit, caramel sauce, maple syrup, chocolate sauce, sprinkles and much more besides provided an array of tasty options and lots of smiles and chatter!

The ‘Pancake wagon’ – their adorned trolley – did the rounds, so those in the Wimborne dining room, lounge, conservatory, quiet reading corners, bedrooms and even in the bistro area all had the chance for ‘a flipping good time’! Senior Activities Lead Zoe Freeman and secong Chef Anthony Hayden ensured there was an endless supply of pancakes, fun and tasty treats.
A lovely day filled with memories, traditions, laughter and good fun. All agreed that it was great to enjoy something that ‘takes us back’ and gives us a touch of familiarity with the option of something ‘new too’.

Stephen Stace, Peri General Manager of Wimborne commented: “Wimborne is a fantastic place to be and the pancakes have been a great activity that absolutely everyone has enjoyed and it has been another wonderful one to share!’
