Hayling care home residents make bread for real bread week
Wimborne Care Home on Hayling Island is known as a well established and much loved home with lots going on, a very caring care home with plenty to do, for those who fancy it. Last week was Real Bread Week and what better way to celebrate than with the wonderful smell of freshly baked bread filling their home! Residents had a fantastic time making their own garlic and herb focaccia bread and white rolls made from scratch, and of course the best part was enjoying the bread warm from the oven, generously spread with butter. Real bread with real butter – such simple pleasures.
They were delighted to be joined by Wimborne’s General Manager, Stephen Stace, who rolled up his sleeves and got involved sharing smiles, stories and a slice (or two!) with everyone.

There’s nothing quite like warm fresh bread to bring people together.
Stephen commented: “Wimborne is a fantastic place to be, we have many residents for whom the activities and social interactions have given them a whole new lease of life. It is lovely to have the time and energy to be able to make bread, something that a family or home carer may not always have. Many of our residents have loved making bread in the past but this is a fresh opportunity to revisit those skills and have this enjoyment. We enjoy baking club here weekly but real bread week was too good an extra opportunity to miss’
