Hayling care home residents enjoy Mexican festival ‘Cinco De Mayo’
A fantastic Mexican-themed event
At Wimborne Care Home, residents and team members brought the vibrant spirit of Mexico to Hayling Island as they celebrated Cinco de Mayo with colour, music, laughter and delicious food on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5th.

The lounge was transformed with bright decorations, traditional music filled the lounges and residents enjoyed a taste of Mexico with a themed meal and cocktails. The celebration also sparked wonderful conversations about travel, culture and favourite family celebrations from years gone by.
Activities like this are about so much more than having fun - they encourage reminiscence, social connection and trying new experiences, all of which have a positive experience on wellbeing. Wimborne was a complete scene of festival, fiesta, joyous fun and mariachi music on 5th May. The luncheon options of tortilla tasting with salsa and guacamole, bean chilli and arroz con leche went down ‘a treat’.

Stephen Stace, Peri General manager of Wimborne, said:’’ Seeing residents smiling, singing along and enjoying something a little different was absolutely wonderful. Events like Cinco de Mayo bring such energy into the home and create lovely shared memories for everyone."
From sombreros to salsa rhythms the day was a joyful celebration of community, culture and togetherness at Wimborne Care Home.
