They are hosting ‘An Exceptional Open Day’ on 4th July and as part of the day they are inviting attendees at 11am for this special new talk.

At 11am ‘Dementia Behaviours’ is to be covered. They have Nikki Shepherd, ex NHS Dementia Coach and Educator speaking about multiple aspects of what dementia affects and how this subsequently changes behaviour. She will talk about strong emotions even when facts are forgotten.

The talk will include common behaviours, the causes and helpful responses. Exploring triggers for certain behaviours will be covered and then the possible management of certain questions, refusals, reactivity and sundowning.

Families attending will have the chance to learn how to become a dementia detective, looking at causes like physical and personal aspects as well as personal preferences. Some additional communication strategies will be shared too.

General Manager, Stephen Stace said; ‘Our dementia talks have been very well received and popular, I’d urge everyone who would like to come and learn a little more to join us for 90 mins, Nikki is a popular speaker and we at Wimborne are delighted to offer this opportunity.’
