Residents at a care home raised a glass - or two - on World Cocktail Day

Wimborne Care Home on Hayling is a residential home where lives are lived well and everyday offers something interesting and different, thanks to a fabulous Care team and a vibrant Activities provision.

Wednesday 13th May was ‘World Cocktail Day’ and residents certainly raised a glass in some style! They all had the chance to delight in mixing, sampling and tasting a range of cocktails and mocktails. The fresh fruit was out as were the mini umbrellas, the maraschino cherries glistened as the perennial favourites made the list!

A cocktail corner was set up. The garnishes were colourful and the beautifully prepared drinks gave residents the chance to enjoy responsibly. From the fruity favourites ( Chambourd spritz to Watermelon cooler to timeless favourites ‘Snowball anyone?’) residents had a chance tosample a variety of drinks whilst reminiscing about holidays, celebrations and favourite nights out from years gone by.

The cocktail event sparked lively conversation and plenty of laughter with the sharing of stories about glamorous dances, seaside hotels and special occasions where cocktails were always part of the celebrations.

Seeing residents enjoying themselves, chatting and trying new flavours has been fantastican afternoon and evening of fun, flavour and fond memories!."
