Havant man prepares to cycle more than 100 miles for cancer charity in memory of his mother
Local man Charles Crespin is preparing to cycle over 100 miles from Portsmouth to Dartford on 11 March 2027 to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of his mother, Tina Chapman, who sadly passed away from cancer. He hopes the challenge will inspire others while raising vital funds for life-saving research.
Charles, from Havant, has set himself an ambitious endurance challenge to cycle the full distance in one day, starting at 7am and finishing in Dartford town centre. The ride will test both physical and mental strength, covering over 100 miles across towns, countryside, and city terrain.

He decided to take on the challenge to honour his mother’s memory and turn personal loss into something positive that could help others affected by cancer.
Charles said: “I want to do something meaningful that shows people no matter what you’ve been through, you can still push yourself to do something good for others. This ride is for my mum and for everyone fighting cancer.”

He is aiming to raise at least £5,000 for Cancer Research UK and hopes local residents, businesses, and supporters will sponsor, share, or even cheer him along the route.
Supporters can follow his progress and donate through his fundraising page.
