Hampshire Hawks ready for Blast Fest showdown with Yorkshire at fortress Utilita Bowl
Hampshire Hawks will look to continue their outstanding Vitality Blast form this Friday as Yorkshire visit Utilita Bowl for the club’s highly anticipated Blast Fest fixture.

With a quarter-final place firmly in their sights, the Hawks return to a venue that has become one of the most formidable in T20 cricket this season. The south coast side have turned the Utilita Bowl into a true fortress, consistently delivering high-quality performances in front of their home supporters and building a platform that has underpinned their charge in the competition.
The fixture, set to be played on a sunny day on the south-coast, will see Hampshire, top pf the South Group take on the current leaders of the North Group, Yorkshire.
Confidence within the Hampshire squad remains high following a string of strong results, with Hampshire showcasing a well-balanced approach that has seen contributions from both bat and ball. Their ability to defend totals and chase under pressure has been a hallmark of the campaign so far, reflecting the depth and experience within the group.
Friday’s clash carries additional intrigue, with Hampshire and Yorkshire having rarely crossed paths in Vitality Blast cricket. In fact, the only previous meeting between the two sides in the competition came in the 2012 final, a match that remains etched in Hampshire folklore. On that occasion, the Hawks emerged victorious to lift the trophy, and the memory of that triumph adds an extra layer of narrative to this week’s encounter.
More than a decade on, Hampshire's players will look to write their own chapter in the fixture’s history. Hampshire’s current squad has blended international quality with emerging domestic talent, resulting in a side capable of adapting to any situation. Their bowling attack has been particularly effective on home soil, with Scott Currie the joint second highest wicket taker in the men’s competition so far, and Chris Wood in fourth, while women’s captain Georgia Adams is joint third with 11 wickets.
Hampshire’s batting units have demonstrated strong form throughout, with both explosiveness and composure. England Women’s international Maia Bouchier has been averaging 85.50, striking at 141.32 strike rate and scoring 171 runs across 3 innings, with a top score of 87. In the men’s side, Tristan Stubbs boasts an average of 83 with the bat, out of 4 innings, scoring 166 runs, and Hilton Cartwright has scored 161 runs so far, at an explosive strike rate of 206 runs per 100 balls.
Utilita Bowl has once again proven to be a pivotal advantage. The familiarity with conditions, coupled with strong home support, has helped Hampshire establish momentum throughout the group stage.
A star-studded Yorkshire squad, meanwhile, arrives with their own high ambitions and will provide a stern test, bringing recognised international names including Jonny Bairstow and Hasan Ali. Known for their competitive edge and depth of talent, they will be eager to secure a statement result against one of the tournament's in-form sides.
Beyond the on-field action, Blast Fest promises to be a standout occasion, combining top-level T20 cricket with an electric matchday atmosphere at the Utilita Bowl.
With the stakes rising and momentum building, Friday’s fixture represents another crucial step in Hampshire’s Vitality Blast campaign. A victory would not only strengthen their push for qualification but also reaffirm the Utilita Bowl’s status as one of the most difficult venues for visiting teams.
As memories of the 2012 final resurface, the Hawks will be determined to channel that winning pedigree once again – this time in front of a home crowd eager to see their side continue its march towards T20 success.
