Hampshire gallery invites people to take part in ‘My Happy Place’ exhibition
An independent art gallery in Petersfield is inviting local residents of all ages to take part in a new community exhibition celebrating creativity and personal stories.
Sage and Salt Studio has launched an open call exhibition titled My Happy Place, encouraging people to create their own artwork to be displayed in the gallery this June. The exhibition is open to everyone, not just experienced artists, with the aim of making art more accessible and inclusive within the local community.

Participants purchase a small 20 × 20cm board from the gallery, take it home to create their piece, and return it to be exhibited alongside others. Every artwork will be displayed as part of the exhibition and available for sale at a fixed price.
The response has already been strong, with around a third of the boards sold within the first week. With limited availability, organisers expect the remaining boards to sell out ahead of the final deadline of 22nd May.
The exhibition will feature four categories: Under 10s, Ages 10–15, Ages 16–17, and Adults, making it accessible for both children and adults to take part.
There will also be a £100 People’s Choice Award in the adult category, alongside prizes for each of the children’s categories.
Gallery owner Sarah-Jane Beacher said:
“We wanted to create something that felt really open and welcoming, especially for people who might not usually see themselves as artists. Everyone has a ‘happy place’, whether that’s somewhere they’ve been, a person, a pet, or even just a quiet moment, and it’s been lovely to see how people are starting to interpret that.”
The exhibition will run from 12th to 26th June at Sage and Salt Studio in Petersfield.
