Hampshire Chamber responds to Prime Minister's resignation
Responding to the announcement of Keir Starmer’s resignation today, Ross McNally, Chief Executive and Executive Chair of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “While Sir Keir deserves gratitude personally for his public service during a period of great economic and geopolitical challenge, many among our membership have responded with both unease and disappointment to the heavier tax burden and added red tape they face which is a direct consequence of government policy.

“Now, as we enter yet another a period of political transition, it is essential that policymakers across all parties maintain a clear focus on economic growth, business confidence, investment, skills and productivity. Employers and investors will be looking for continuity, certainty and a continued commitment to creating the conditions that enable businesses of all sizes to thrive.
“Hampshire Chamber stands ready to work constructively with the incoming leadership to support sustainable growth, create jobs and help ensure the UK remains an attractive place where people have the confidence they need to invest, innovate and do business.
“The new Prime Minister must adopt bold business-friendly policies to drive the growth that we so desperately require.
“At the same time, we need to see an orderly handover of power over the coming weeks and months to ensure stability and minimise any economic disruption.”
