From Breaking Point to Breaking Barriers: Emma’s Incredible Slimming World Journey

When Emma Colebrook walked into Sam Jones’s Saturday morning Slimming World group in Bedhampton at 10.30am on 30 May 2026, she was ready to make a change. Just 12 weeks later, she is an incredible 2½ stone lighter, brimming with confidence, playing an invaluable role as part of Sam’s social team and has been crowned Group Woman of the Year 2026 in recognition of her amazing weight-loss achievements.

But Emma’s journey is about so much more than the number on the scales. It is a story of rebuilding confidence, changing her mindset and discovering a new way of life.

Emma says she hadn’t felt like herself for a long time. After suffering a breakdown during the winter of 2025, she knew that something needed to change. She knew she wanted to lose weight, but, at that point, she simply wasn’t ready.

Then came a holiday in Devon in May 2026.

Seeing herself in her swimsuit gave Emma the moment she describes as the final straw. She knew it was time.

“I knew I needed to do something, so when I came home, I joined Slimming World.”

Having never followed Slimming World before, Emma admits she didn’t know quite what to expect. But she has embraced the plan wholeheartedly, particularly loving Food Optimising and how simple and achievable she finds it.

For Emma, it has been about far more than dieting.

“Food Optimising is so easy and simple to follow. It has allowed me to change my mindset and my eating habits. I see it as a lifestyle choice for life.”

Emma joined the group alongside her friend Sally, and the pair have become a fantastic support for each other. Their friendship and enthusiasm have also seen Sally join Sam’s social team, making the journey even more special.

One of Emma’s biggest challenges was believing in herself. She worried that she could lose weight without setbacks and wondered whether she really had the confidence to succeed.

Today, that seems like a distant memory.

Sam certainly doesn’t worry about Emma’s confidence anymore.

“Emma’s confidence now just oozes out of her. She lights up the room, and her energy and confidence have been an absolute joy to see grow.”

Emma’s incredible progress has already been recognised by the group, with her amazing weight-loss achievements earning her the title of Group Woman of the Year 2026 a wonderful accolade after just 12 weeks on her Slimming World journey.

So much so that Sam has already approached Emma about the possibility of becoming a Slimming World Consultant herself.

With Sam planning to relocate abroad and eventually retire to Cyprus, she is looking towards the future and hopes to hand her thriving group over to the right person. For Sam, Emma has all the qualities and more that she believes could make her a fantastic Consultant.

And Emma’s transformation isn’t just visible on the scales. It is being felt in everyday life.

She can now run up the stairs when previously she couldn’t, and she can play football with her little boy. She has more energy to spend time with her boys and has started doing more exercise, while introducing new ways to tone up.

Emma remembers how being overweight affected her mental health, while physically she struggled with painful knees and feet after walking long distances.

Now, losing weight has given her the freedom to do so much more.

“I can do a lot more now. I have more energy to do things with my boys, and I’ve started doing more exercise.”

Emma knows she still has a way to go, but there is no doubting her determination.

“I still have a long way to go, but I’m determined to get there.”

For Sam, watching Emma’s transformation has been one of the highlights of her time as a Consultant.

“Emma just lights up the room. Her energy and confidence have been a joy to see grow. I’m very excited for the future, knowing that when I move and retire to Cyprus, my group will be in safe hands with Emma and will continue to thrive.”

From feeling that she wasn’t ready, to becoming 2½ stone lighter in just 12 weeks, being named Group Woman of the Year 2026, supporting others as part of the social team and potentially taking the next step towards becoming a Consultant herself, Emma’s story shows what can happen when you finally decide that the time is right for you.

Her journey is only just beginning and who knows, the next chapter could see Emma inspiring many more people as she takes her passion for Slimming World to the next level.
