Free community cricket festival taking place during Portsmouth100 celebrations
One week after the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, a free community cricket festival is taking place in Portsmouth as part of its 100-year city-status celebration with hundreds expected to attend.

The Portsmouth100 Cricket Festival takes place on Sunday 12th July at Portsmouth and Southsea Cricket Club and aims to bring together players, clubs, families and supporters from across Portsmouth and Hampshire for a celebration of cricket and community.
It’s an all-day event, kicking off from 10am with a Junior Cricket Showcase. From midday, there will be a Women and Girls' Cricket Showcase, including a Women's Soft Ball W10 Tri-Series Festival. To cap off the day, a Hampshire Academy vs Portsmouth Select XI Exhibition Match will take place from 3pm.
Alongside the cricketing action, attendees of all ages will have plenty to get stuck into. Inflatables, family activities, entertainment and plenty of food and drink will all be on offer as Portsmouth come together to celebrate.
The free community event is delivered by Hampshire Cricket Board, Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club and is expected to welcome hundreds from around the county.
Sam Moss, Community Development Manager – Urban Areas, at Hampshire Cricket Board, said: “We are delighted to host the Portsmouth100 Cricket Festival as part of the city’s centenary celebrations. With a full programme of junior cricket, women’s and girls’ activity, and a showcase match featuring the Hampshire Academy, the event promises to be one of the highlights of the summer for us.
“Hopefully, it will be taking place off the back of England winning the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup giving us all another chance to celebrate that and build on the excitement of the tournament. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing everyone at Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club.”
