Fareham racing driver prepares to lead disabled racing team’s GT3 campaign

A racing driver from Fareham is preparing to take on his most ambitious year yet, as he takes to the wheel in GT3 racing for the first time.

45-year-old Paul Fullick is a driver for Team BRIT, the world’s only competitive team of all-disabled racing drivers.

He has been announced as part of the first driver pairing to compete in the team’s newly acquired BMW GT3, signalling the team’s progress towards its long-term dream of competing in the Le Mans 24 hour.

Paul will pair up with Jamie Falvey to compete in the GT Cup Championship, whilst his fellow Team BRIT drivers compete in the Britcar Endurance Championship and Snetterton Saloons.

Since its formation in 2015, Team BRIT has been dedicated to revolutionising disability motorsport, breaking down barriers and proving that nothing is impossible. Over the past decade, the team has progressed from entry-level racing to competing on the international stage, it has won a national championship and taken championship class wins, and supported disabled teams overseas, while developing cutting-edge hand control technology that has opened doors for disabled drivers worldwide.

Paul is a lower leg amputee following a motorbike crash. He has been with the team since 2022, and has progressed rapidly from driving a BMW 118i, to competing in a McLaren 570S GT4 last year. He also joined the team in heading to America last year to compete in the Veterans Race of Remembrance alongside US-based charity, Resilience Racing.

His teammate Jamie Falvey served in the Royal Marines commandos to the rank of lance corporal and was medically discharged after sustaining hearing damage. He joined Team BRIT as a driver in 2017, before going on to forge a successful solo racing career.

The pair will head to Portimao in Portugal for winter testing later this month, before the first race of the year at Donington on April 11th.

Paul said: “The winter always feels so long as we eagerly await the return of the racing season, but this time it’s been even harder to wait, knowing that I have such an incredible year ahead.

“When the team acquired a GT3 for the first time, I knew I wanted to be part of it, so to be selected to drive is a dream come true. It’s crazy to think that only 4 years ago, I was lying in hospital having undergone major surgery. Now, I’m preparing for my most competitive year of sport yet. It shows that with the right belief and support around you, anything is possible.

“Pairing up with Jamie is a real privilege, there’s so much I can learn from him and together I think we’ll make a strong team. I can’t wait to get racing.”
