Family-run Gosport shop get a new look

Leesland's family-run RK News & Post Office gets a fresh new look

A familiar face on Whitworth Road is starting a new chapter. RK News & Post Office, at 7-9 Whitworth Rd in Leesland, Gosport, has unveiled a brand new shopfront as part of a wider refresh under new ownership.

The shop has been a fixture in the local community for decades, passing between different family owners over the years, each keeping the doors open under a new name. Now, the latest family to take on the shop is hoping to carry on that tradition - modernising the look while keeping what locals rely on the shop for most.

The new signage, installed this month, keeps the site's Post Office roundel front and centre, alongside fresh branding under the Local4U banner and a "Daily Essentials" tagline. Inside, the shop continues to offer the full range residents are used to - from chilled drinks, wines and spirits, and frozen food to everyday groceries and confectionery - alongside its Post Office counter, PayPoint, and parcel drop-off/collection services for Amazon, Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, Parcelforce and UPS.

"[Rinkesh Patel], who has taken over the running of the shop, said: 'This shop has been part of Leesland for as long as most people here can remember, just under different names. We know how much people depend on it, whether it's the Post Office counter, picking up parcels, or just grabbing the essentials, so refreshing the shopfront was about giving it a fresh start while keeping everything locals know and rely on.'"

The shop is currently running a community survey throughout August, inviting customers to share feedback for a chance to win a £10 shop voucher, and a "Follow & Flash" offer giving 10% off (up to £2, minimum £5 spend) to anyone following the shop's Facebook page and showing it at the till.

RK News & Post Office is open Monday to Friday 6am-9:30pm, Saturday 7am-9:30pm, and Sunday 7am-7pm. The Post Office counter operates Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 8am-1pm.
