IT’S almost time for the annual summer fete, which is hosted by St Faith’s Church, in Lee-on the-Solent. It’s going to be a fun day for the whole family!

We are so privileged that we have some open space around our church in Victoria Square where we can host so many activities. As normal we’ll have food, music, plants, local crafts, a bouncy slide, a barbecue, penalty shootout and so much more.

It’s all happening 10am-2pm on Saturday 13th June, and there will be fantastic things going on outside on our grounds and inside St Faith’s Parish Centre.

Among other things, we’ll also be hosting the Great Lee Bake Off for a third time. You are invited to take part, baking showstopping cakes, biscuits, cookies or even savoury bakes. There are adult and junior competitions and you can find out how to enter on www.stfaithslee.org.

They will be judged on the day, and we hope that all the bakes that are entered will be available to sell off to help raise some money for this year’s good cause, the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS), which does amazing work along our coastline.

There will also be donkey rides for those children who might like to experience that. And our bike stall will ensure that anyone who needs their bike repaired on maintained can come along and get some help. There will even be some refurbished second-hand bikes for sale.

We also have many stalls from our local community, selling items and raising their profile.  Entry to the fete is free, but the stalls will involve a modest payment.

We are looking forward to an amazing day when all the community comes together. It’s always so rewarding to see the crowds on the day, and of course we’re really pleased that the church can genuinely be at the heart of this wonderful community.

I always love being involved, and I’m especially grateful to all the volunteers from St Faith’s, who work tirelessly to set these things up, and then offer a welcoming smiling face to all those who come on the day.

If you’re interested in coming, you can find full details of both the Summer Fete and the Bake Off, at St Faith’s website: www.stfaithslee.org.uk.
