FAITH IN THE COMMUNITY: Celebrate our new parish centre at Spring Fete
A spring fete and concert is being planned by a church
IT is with great joy that I invite the local community to join us on Saturday 16th May for a very special day in Alverstoke. We are delighted to be hosting a Spring Fete, followed by a late afternoon concert of music and celebration with Gosport Solent Brass.
The fun will begin with our Spring Fete from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, held at St. Mary’s Church on Green Road, as well as our newly refurbished parish centre hall across the street.
We are thrilled to be opening this renewed space to the community for the first time in such a celebratory way. The refurbishment has given us a brighter, more welcoming and modern venue, and it will be a real pleasure to see it filled with laughter, activity and fellowship.
The main attraction of the fete will undoubtedly be the Teddy Zipwire. Considerable and enthusiastic “testing” has already taken place in preparation, and I can assure you it has been met with great excitement!
Children (and the young at heart) are warmly invited to bring their favourite teddy bear along to take part in the adventure, careering down the zipwire for a suggested donation of £3 per bear.
For those who arrive without a suitable companion, we will also have a supply of standby teddies ready and waiting so that no one misses out on the fun.
Alongside the zipwire, there will be stalls, refreshments and activities for all ages, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where family and friends can come together and enjoy a traditional village fete.
The celebrations continue from 4pm to pm with a special children’s concert by Gosport Solent Brass. The programme will feature music from film and television, including Harry Potter, Stranger Things, K-Pop Demon Hunters, Minecraft, Wednesday, and more.
The band will be dressing as their favourite characters and encourage the audience to join in to help create a fun, lively atmosphere. Tickets can be booked in advance via www.gosportsolentbrass.com. Children under 12 go free.
