Excell Metal Spinning invests in new CNC flanging capability at Portsmouth factory
Excell Metal Spinning has a new flanging machine at its Portsmouth factory
Excell Metal Spinning has taken delivery of a new CNC flanging machine at its Portsmouth factory, marking a significant investment in the company’s manufacturing capability and long term growth.
The arrival of the new machine represents an important step forward for the business, strengthening Excell’s ability to produce a wider range of flanged components with improved repeatability, consistency and production efficiency.
The machine is designed for straight flanging and punching and is capable of handling component diameters from 300 mm through to 1300 mm, with capacity up to 4 mm carbon steel and 2 mm stainless steel. The quoted ex works value of the investment, including tooling, is over $38,000.
For Excell Metal Spinning, the investment will support the production of a broad range of components suited to flanging processes, including cylindrical sections, ducting parts, casings, covers, rings, transition pieces and other formed metal components where repeatability and edge consistency are critical.
That has clear implications for the industries Excell serves. The new capability is well suited to work for sectors such as HVAC, ventilation, industrial equipment, lighting, architectural metalwork and wider fabrication, where customers require dependable, accurately formed components and increasingly value strong in-house production control.
Curtis Bligh of Excell Metal Spinning said: “This investment is about more than simply adding another machine to the shop floor. It strengthens our ability to produce suitable flanged components more efficiently, more consistently and with greater control in house. That is important for us as a business, but it is also important for our customers, because it helps us improve repeatability, support lead times and continue expanding the range of work we can take on here in Portsmouth.”
As well as improving consistency on repeat production work, the new machine places Excell in a stronger position to support larger diameter components and projects where process control and production efficiency are increasingly important.
The investment also reflects Excell Metal Spinning’s continued commitment to British manufacturing and to building capability at its Portsmouth site. At a time when many manufacturers are under pressure, continued capital investment in equipment, skills and in-house production remains a key part of how the company intends to grow.
With installation and commissioning now underway, Excell is looking forward to bringing the new machine into production and putting that added capability to work for customers across the sectors it serves.
