The event included teams from TSL, J&B Hopkins, Womble Bond Dickinson and Stewarts Signs amongst others who came together for this fiercely contested tournament which culminated in a dramatic and hard-fought final with TSL claiming the ultimate bragging rights by narrowly defeating runners up Womble Bond Dickinson.

However, the competition on court was almost surpassed by creativity of some of the kits worn by the teams especially the Hopkins team who embraced the spirit of the day by wearing kits reminiscent of those worn in the popular movie from 2004.

Launched in 2014 by owner Charlie McEvoy, Ace Sports work with Primary Schools to enrich Physical Education & School Sport through PE Lessons, Extra Curricular Clubs & School Holiday Clubs and have had a positive impact on thousands of children every year. Along with Operations Manager, Jack Knight, Charlie has this year setup Ace Sports Team Building- providing sports themed team building sessions and events for Businesses and Organisations so the adults don’t have to miss out on the fun too!

David Fawcett, Community Fundraiser at Abby’s Heroes said “Everyone at Abby’s Heroes is extremely grateful to Ace Sports Team Building for organising this fantastic tournament. This is the first time a Dodgeball match has been organised in support of us, so we were delighted that it was such a success!  We can only continue to support children with cancer and their families through the kindness and generosity of supporters such as Ace Sports Team Building and the wonderful businesses who took part today.”

Neil Johnson from Hopkins added “The Hopkins team jumped at the chance to support Abby's Heroes once again. It didn't take much convincing to get everyone into costume for the day, and it was great to be part of such a fun and different fundraising event. The Ace Sports team were fantastic and made the day enjoyable for everyone. However, we may need a bit more dodgeball practice before the next one! “

Jack Knight from Ace Sports said “We were absolutely thrilled by the positive reaction to the event. The day was all about introducing Dodgeball to a new audience whilst at the same time, bringing the business community together to raise money for Abby’s Heroes. We can’t wait to do it all again next year and provide future fundraising charity events.”

The Ace Sports Team so enjoyed fundraising for Abby’s Heroes that their team will now be doing “The Big Ace Walk” in September walking 26 miles from Durdle Door to Studland Bay in support of the charity.

Dodgeball is a team sport where two teams throw balls at each other to eliminate opposing players by striking them or catching their throws. The goal is to eliminate the entire opposing team or have more players remaining on the court when the time limit expires.
