Discover The Portsmouth Academy at their 2026 open event later this year
A secondary school in Portsmouth will be opening their doors to pupils looking to start with them in 2027.
On Thursday 1st October 2026, The Portsmouth Academy on St Marys Road, Fratton, will host their Open Event, from 6-8pm, to allow those interested to explore the school in different, interactive ways.
Alongside a welcome from Executive Principal, Mr Daniel Botting, current students at the school will give tours, answer questions and share what they love about the different subjects available.
There’ll also be the chance to try some free food on offer from their Food Technology department and see their modern facilities in action, such as their multi-use games area.
As a member of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, the school aims to Transform Life Chances, providing opportunities to every child regardless of their circumstance. The Portsmouth Academy has embraced the trust’s ethos where students become self-reflective learners through metacognition.
Mr Botting spoke proudly about the school’s values and vision, explaining;
“We talk about education as being the golden ticket; the opportunity which opens up those next steps for young people after school.
“We’re a school which is committed to its values; to aspire and aim high, to achieve and get the very best out of themselves, and to show respect”.
Mr Botting discussed the student experience at the school, which aims to enrich their learning in a variety of different ways.
“We want to make sure our pupils have a unique set of experiences during their time in school. Our curriculum is ambitious, broad, and provides pupils with the opportunity to study a range of different subjects.
“Alongside this, there’s also lots of extra-curricular activities and some exciting trips overseas”.
The Portsmouth Academy is committed to maintaining positive, healthy relationships between the school and parents and carers/families.
At the Open Event, parents and carers will have plenty of opportunities to speak with their dedicated staff, who will be on hand to answer any questions.
No pre-registration to attend is required. Parents and carers with any further questions about the event, including any accessibility requirements should get in touch at [email protected]
