Denmead care home holds dementia communication workshop
Denmead Grange Care Home in Denmead is a home for elderly residents who may be frail or living with dementia. It has 60 spacious, light and airy rooms, a varied and broad activities programme, chef prepared fresh delicious food and throughout there are a team of absolutely dedicated staff who are employed for their caring attitudes above all else. Denmead Grange is a home ‘in the woods’, set on the outskirts of Denmead village and with an abundance of bird and wildlife to enjoy.
It also has a great reputation locally for engaging with their local community, offering a wide range of regular events that are open to all and certainly popular.
This month they have combined all these things in a Special event.
On Thursday 26th March at 2.30pm there is a special talk being given;
‘Dementia Communication; improving awareness and having effective strategies that reduce stress’.
The Speaker is ex NHS specialist Dementia Coach and Educator Nikki Shepherd, who now works for Barchester as a Home Services Advisor. Nikki used to work covering the Denmead area so may be remembered by some families affected.
Nikki will share hints, tips and techniques to help those in a Dementia support role and it is a comfortable presentation for anyone who is living with a diagnosis too. She has a relaxed and engaging manner and will make reference to sources for further help and support.
Denmead Grange’s General Manger Abbie Johnston commented: “At Denmead Grange we are communicating all the time with our residents and we are aware of how challenging this can be for anyone at any stage in the journey. As such we are delighted to have Nikki’s expertise on hand, for the benefit of our community.
