Community Kettle Launches Christmas Toy Sale to Support Naomi House
As Christmas approaches, many families are beginning to think about how they can make the festive season magical for their children. At the same time, parents across Portsmouth are looking around bedrooms already overflowing with toys, books and games, wondering where they will find space for the latest Christmas gifts.

Now, Community Kettle has found a way to solve both problems while raising money for a worthy local cause.
The popular Cosham community space is inviting residents to take part in a Toy, Book, Game and Puzzle Sale, giving local families the opportunity to clear out pre-loved treasures and help others discover affordable Christmas presents ahead of the festive season.

The special fundraising event will take place alongside the café’s regular opening hours on Saturday 24 October, transforming Community Kettle into a festive bargain hunter’s paradise packed with children’s toys, family games, books, puzzles and more.
Community members can hire a table to sell unwanted items, giving toys a second life while also helping reduce waste and promote sustainable shopping. Donations from table bookings will be given to Naomi House & Jacksplace, the hospice charity that provides expert care and support to children, young adults and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
The cause is particularly close to the heart of Community Kettle Café Lead Annette, who has witnessed first-hand the difference that compassionate organisations such as Naomi House make to families during some of life’s most challenging times.
Annette said: “Christmas can be an expensive time for families, especially with the rising cost of living. We wanted to create an event that helps people clear space at home, find affordable gifts and support a charity that means so much to many families. It’s a simple idea that brings the community together while making a real difference.”
Visitors can expect to find everything from popular board games and jigsaw puzzles to children’s books, educational toys, action figures, dolls and family entertainment, all at budget-friendly prices.
Community Kettle hopes the event will help families get ahead of Christmas spending while encouraging residents to shop locally and support a charity that provides vital services across the region.
“There is something special about a pre-loved toy finding a new home,” said Nicole from Community Kettle. “Every puzzle sold, every book purchased and every toy rehomed helps create a positive impact. We’re excited to welcome families through our doors and see the community come together for such a meaningful cause.”
The event is open to everyone, whether they are looking to declutter, sell unwanted items, grab a bargain or simply enjoy a visit to the café.
