During the celebrations, ukulele band The Ukes of Wellington helped raise the roof with a memorable performance, featuring hits from all decades.

Guests were also treated to a tasty barbecue, complete with an assortment of wine, beer and punch, specially prepared by the home’s Head Chef.

Resident Brian said: "It was a lovely day. I love ukuleles as it reminds me of my grandson who plays.

“Overall, it was a really good day and I enjoyed it very much!"

Audrey Chiduku, Home Manager at Ancasta Grove, said: “We’ve had a magical time celebrating our fifth anniversary; it’s hard to believe it’s been half a decade since we first opened our doors!

“The past five years have been filled with fantastic moments for everyone at the home, from organising intergenerational activities with neighbouring schools to making incredible resident wishes come true. In these last years, we have also been rated ‘Good’ in all categories by the Care Quality Commission, achieved five stars by the Environmental Health Officer and received an award from the Gold Standard Framework for palliative care. All in all, it has been wonderful to work with such a passionate team made of people who care for our residents.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to our dedicated team for making Ancasta Grove a wonderful place to call home – this was certainly a birthday party to remember.”

Ancasta Grove has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives. The home provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, and is proud to be able to offer a ‘home for life’ if an individual’s needs change over time.
