The visit was organised after residents expressed their wish to visit the library and reconnect with the joy of getting lost in a good book. With a shared love of literature and fond memories of reading, the outing provided the perfect opportunity to browse the shelves, explore different genres and select books that sparked their interest.

From familiar favourites to new stories waiting to be discovered, residents enjoyed choosing their own books and reminiscing about the pleasure that reading has brought them throughout their lives.

The trip was not only a chance to borrow books but also a lovely opportunity for residents to get out into the local community, enjoy a change of scenery and share their passion for reading with one another.

Everyone at The Fernes is looking forward to hearing about the stories residents have chosen and seeing their love of reading continue to flourish.

Gemma Woodford, Activities Lead said “It was wonderful to see our residents so excited to visit the library and choose books for themselves. Reading brings back so many happy memories, and we are delighted to support our residents in rediscovering something they have always loved. We hope this is the beginning of many more literary adventures! Thank you to Fareham Library for being so welcoming.”
