Cardo supports Wickham Community Centre with targeted improvement works
Cardo has completed a programme of improvement works at Wickham Community Centre, marking the start of a growing partnership with one of the district’s much-loved community hubs.
The centre regularly hosts a range of groups, community events, and vital services – including the Men’s Shed repairs café, gardening groups, Citizens Advice, and a food bank – supporting residents across the Parish of Wickham and the surrounding areas.
Over three days, Cardo carpenters designed, built and installed bespoke storage cupboards in the main office, improving functionality while discreetly concealing fuse boxes and operational panels. Along with the centre’s new flooring and office furniture, the upgrades have created a more welcoming space for visitors and staff.
Cardo groundworkers also resurfaced the rear concrete path, a key access route used by the food bank. The previously uneven surface posed a trip hazard and made deliveries difficult. Now, the new path provides a safer, smoother route for volunteers, deliveries, and residents.
Additional works were also completed across the centre by Cardo’s teams, including electrical works, plumbing repairs, and further carpentry – responding directly to needs raised by centre staff.
The improvement works build on Cardo’s previous support for the centre, including donations and hands-on assistance at the centre’s Christmas Fair, which raised funds for essential community programmes such as lunch clubs and outreach activities.
