Bumper raffle helps to raise £790 for Locks Heath companionship café
A bumper raffle with over 50 prizes has helped to boost the total raised at a charity quiz on Wednesday night. Prizes included a clock, large print, craft sets, games and puzzles, meal vouchers, beauty treatments, wine and other drinks, and a large tub of sweets.

The quiz was held at the Sir Joseph Paxton pub, Titchfield and raised £790 for Home Instead Charities. Many of the prizes were donated by Home Instead staff from their Whiteley office and the evening ended with an auction for a 32-inch television, which raised £100 alone.
Resident quiz master, Gary Parker hosted the evening and had questions with a friendship theme and songs with home in the title as the money raised will fund a new companionship café in Locks Heath Shopping Centre, run by local care company Home Instead.

The event was part of a fundraising initiative by Home Instead Charities to support older people and the Locks Heath Companionship Café will be a weekly "safe space" that provides a lifeline for local people who live alone or need some company. The café will offer a warm welcome, free tea, coffee and cake, and will be a place where people over 65 yrs can connect and enjoy a sense of community.
Gary Parker said, “I’m really pleased that we raised £790 and I want to thank everyone who came along and bought raffle tickets and supported the auction. It was really heartwarming and I can’t wait to hear how the new companionship café goes.
It was a great atmosphere and Home Instead had two teams but the winners were The Unpronounceables who beat Ronnie’s Revamped by just one point!”
Home Instead Charities is dedicated to ending loneliness and isolation in the aging population.
