Bricksy Trail Gosport - created by Level Up Gosport in collaboration with Bricksy & Mr Dot.

The Banksy of Bricks, (well LEGO® ones anyway) - Hampshire’s very own ‘Bricksy’ has teamed up with local charity – Level Up Gosport and produced an exciting new Modern Heritage Trail featuring twenty six LEGO® inspired mosaics placed at key heritage locations in the High Street, the Pier, and Stoke Road areas of the town.

The Bricksy Trail, designed to encourage both locals and visitors to explore the town and discover its stories through art, inclusion and play, launches on the 1st April at ‘YourSpace’ on Gosport High Street between 2-5pm. The mosaics were created by Bricksy who is known for his joyful and engaging LEGO® based street art that inspires people to stop, stare, and snap a photo. The project has seen him collaborating with a group of neurodiverse young people from Level Up Gosport, many with additional needs and mental health challenges, who had an opportunity to create their own LEGO® mosaics at a workshop with Bricksy himself. Some have also assisted in logo & flyer design, trail testing and photography.

Dick Jones, a local Creative Designer has produced a physical guide which includes a map of the Trail and at each location a QR code leads to an online audio clip with lively information relevant to the mosaic and hints for the next location, voiced by specially assigned pirates Minnie and Milo who will be sailing in to appear at the launch too!  The clips, voiced by Poppy and Andy, were scripted by Kate Webb and professionally recorded by sound engineers Steve Bond and Arron Gumbrell from Autek CIC at Quay West studios on Forton Road in Gosport. The multi-sensory experience which celebrates Gosport’s modern heritage locations, features some well known cartoon characters and has been designed with inclusivity in mind. The world’s leading blind Braille artist – Mr Dot, has been instrumental in installing braille concepts, as well as bringing to the proceedings his colourful and dynamic personality – look out for him at the launch too – he cannot be missed!

Level Up Gosport’s Chair - Mary Ive says: “This project is about inclusion, creativity and pride in our community, we want to attract people to our town and encourage people to see Gosport differently - to discover its heritage in a fun and modern way, and to share that excitement with others”.
