As the Labour MP for Bracknell, Peter Swallow has been championing government investment in cleaner, more affordable home heating. During his visit with Aura Retrofit, he met residents whose homes have been transformed through government-funded energy improvements, hearing directly how lower energy bills and modern heating systems are changing everyday life.
From Portable Heaters to a Modern Low-Carbon Home
For years, Stephen had no central heating and relied on portable electric radiators, constantly moving them from room to room during the colder months. Despite the inconvenience, his home was still difficult to heat, with electricity costs reaching around £150 every month.
After Aura Retrofit identified that Stephen qualified for support through the government's Warm Homes Plan, a comprehensive home energy assessment was completed. Working in partnership with AgilityEco, Aura Retrofit installed a complete low-carbon heating system, including an air-source heat pump, new radiators throughout the property, and solar PV panels.
