A record number or art works sold, at the Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society, summer exhibition.
The Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society (PHAS) is a non-profit making arts organisation, run entirely with volunteers. This year we had a record number or artists exhibiting - 93 in total, who submitted 622 pieces of art, of which we sold 102.

Last year we had 76 artists exhibit 488 pieces of artwork, with 50% of the artists selling their artwork, totalling 85 pieces of art sold.
Jane Pooley, the Chair of PHAS said: “It was our best exhibition ever with some really high quality pieces of art submitted, we were impressed with the calibre, especially from our junior members and would like to thank all the artists who helped out with stewarding at the exhibition”

PHAS membership is open to all, and it allows you to enter the annual summer exhibition, the highlight of our year, and we are privileged to exhibit in the light and spacious setting of the nave of Portsmouth Cathedral.
We also run a regular art group session on a Thursday (term times) from 9:30am to 2:30pm in Becket Hall, Cathedral House, 63-68 St Thomas's Street, Old Portsmouth, PO1 2HA.
These sessions are free to members, and for non-members, the first session will be free and then £3 per session thereafter.
Painting with others can provide the incentive to get started and to continue with painting. The environment also encourages sharing of information and ideas between members.

You can drop in at any time and stay for as long as you wish, so why not pop in, for a cuppa and a biscuit and meet fellow creatives.
