A Nostalgic Afternoon: Marriott House and Lodge Hosts 1940s Garden Party

Residents, staff, friends, and family enjoyed a delightful afternoon of nostalgia and celebration at Marriott House and Lodge’s recent 1940s-themed garden party.

Blessed with gorgeous sunshine, the gardens were filled with laughter, music, and the spirit of the 1940s as everyone gathered outdoors to enjoy the special occasion. Entertainment was provided by talented singer Karen Etherington, who performed a wonderful selection of classic 1940s songs, creating the perfect atmosphere for the event.

Guests relaxed in the summer heat while enjoying a traditional afternoon tea featuring finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with fruit jam and clotted cream, and a delicious assortment of cakes.

The celebration was made even more special as resident Dot Bourn marked her birthday surrounded by friends and family in the beautiful garden setting.

Staff and residents fully embraced the theme by dressing in their finest 1940s attire, adding to the charm and authenticity of the afternoon. From vintage dresses to wartime-inspired outfits, everyone looked fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time together.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for residents, loved ones, and staff to come together, create happy memories, and celebrate community spirit in the sunshine.
