50 day countdown to Fontwell Park Racecourse Family Festival Raceday – plus top tips for families to make the most of the day
After a standout debut last year, Fontwell Park Racecourse is getting ready to welcome back its Family Festival Raceday this spring, bringing with it an expanded programme of family entertainment and a full afternoon of racing. Even more activities are included within the ticket price, making it an accessible and value-packed day out.
Returning on Sunday 24 May, the event blends the excitement of live jump racing with a vibrant festival-style atmosphere. From the moment gates open, families can enjoy a wide range of attractions alongside the racing action, making it an ideal way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend together.

Across the racecourse, visitors will find plenty to keep all ages entertained, including traditional funfair rides, face painting, and a lively entertainment stage hosting performances and interactive shows throughout the day.
A major highlight for younger racegoers will be a live appearance from Paw Patrol favourites, Chase and Marshall - with a fun show followed by a meet and greet with the popular pups.

Alongside the family-friendly entertainment, the racecourse will host a full afternoon of competitive jump racing, giving visitors the chance to experience the buzz of live horseracing while enjoying everything else on offer.
Guy Pridie, Executive Director at Fontwell Park Racecourse, said:
"We were thrilled with the success of last year’s event, which saw families joining us from across the region to enjoy something a little different. It reinforced just how important it is to offer days out that are both high quality and affordable. This year, we’ve expanded what’s included so families can experience even more, alongside the excitement and atmosphere that live racing brings. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back in May."
A Family Guide to Making the Most of Your Day

For many visitors, the thrill of jump racing is a highlight of the day - and there are plenty of ways for families to get closer to the action at Fontwell Park Racecourse.
Visit the Parade Ring
Before each race, horses and jockeys gather in the Parade Ring, offering a chance to see the runners up close. It’s a great opportunity for children to experience the excitement of the race day and pick a favourite before heading to the track.
Pick up a Race Card
A race card is your guide to the day’s racing, with information on each horse, jockey, and race.
Find the Best Viewing Spot
Fontwell’s layout means you can get close to the action. Head trackside to feel the thundering hooves as the horses race past, or find a relaxed spot to take it all in at your own pace.

Listen for the Call to Post
Keep an ear out for announcements signalling when horses are heading to the start - this helps you plan when to move between activities so you don’t miss the big moments.
Cheer on Your Favourite
Whether you’ve picked based on colours, names, or pure instinct, cheering on your chosen horse is all part of the fun and adds to the lively atmosphere.
Learn as You Go
Jump racing is easy to follow and exciting to watch, with horses racing over obstacles including hurdles and fences. It’s a great introduction for first-time racegoers of all ages.
