The figures highlight the popularity of the Advance Fare initiative during one of the busiest periods of the year, as families, day-trippers and regular travellers looked for ways to make their journeys between Southsea and Ryde better value.

Introduced as an ongoing fare initiative, Advance Fares reward customers who book their journey ahead of travel, with savings available across Hovertravel’s timetable. The initiative has continued to provide customers with an opportunity to reduce the cost of their travel beyond the summer holiday season.

Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, said:

“It’s fantastic to see more than 20,000 customers taking advantage of our Advance Fares over the school summer holidays. Planning ahead has clearly appealed to customers looking for great value, particularly during the busy summer period.

“The important thing is that these savings don’t end with the summer holidays. Advance Fares are an ongoing part of our fare offering, so customers can continue to make savings throughout the winter and beyond. Whether you are planning a day out, visiting friends and family or travelling regularly, booking ahead is the savvy choice.”

The Advance Fare initiative is available throughout the year, giving customers the opportunity to make savings whenever they are able to plan their journey in advance.

With the ten-minute journey between Southsea and Ryde providing a fast link between the mainland and Isle of Wight, Hovertravel is continuing to look for ways to offer customers greater value while maintaining its frequent year-round service.
