Tropical vibes at Gunwharf Quays as new open-air tiki bar launches for August
Drinks are flowing at an open-air bar
Exotic beach vibes can be savored at a new open-air bar based out of a popular shopping outlet, which has also confirmed the return of its annual seafood festival.
Running until August 31, Gunwharf Quays’ ‘Castaway Cove’ will offer visitors a relaxed waterside spot to enjoy drinks, street food and free entertainment, with live performances and family-friendly activities taking place almost every day.
At the heart of the month-long event is Castaway Cove's nautical tiki bar which will be serving tropical cocktails, spritzes, regional beers and non-alcoholic refreshments. Combining tropical plants and shaded pergolas, the bar - inspired by Polynesian beach clubs - will be accompanied by a changing menu, showcasing fresh south coast flavours.

The open-air bar will also run in conjunction with the seafood festival which will run across the August bank holiday weekend. Foodies can expect fresh seafood with participating vendors including The Gamekeepers which will serve the likes of crab bruschetta, as well as Brighton’s iconic champagne and oyster bar, Riddle & Finns.
Guests can also enjoy an extensive programme of free entertainment throughout the month with live acoustic performances from artists including Jack Creedy, The Wednesdays, and Portsmouth local, Ella Roche, alongside saxophone performances from Vadym Sax and Freddy Saxo.
The jam packed programme features salsa dancing sessions with Salsa Solent, family-friendly circus workshops and hula-hooping, disco yoga and bubble shows.
Nick Zuppar, entertainment and events producer for Castaway Cove, added: "We've created a unique programme that offers something different every time people visit. From live music and DJs to circus workshops, salsa sessions and our Nautical Tiki Bar, we wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere where guests can come together, enjoy the waterfront, and make the most of summer."
Castaway Cove will be in The Plaza at Gunwharf Quays until the last day of August, and all entertainment will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and the full entertainment programme, click here.
