Bastille expected to perform as planned at Victorious after "serious vocal issue" forced band to pull out of another gig at the last minute

Uncertainty over one of the headline acts at this weekend’s Victorious

Bastille are expected to perform as planned at Victorious this weekend despite pulling out of another gig earlier this week shortly before they were due on stage.

Bastille’s lead singer Dan Smith is battling a ‘serious vocal issue’ and has been ordered on ‘complete vocal rest’ by medics, according to a statement released by the band on social media.

This has led to the group pulling out of their scheduled slot at Hungary’s SZIN Festival 2026 this evening (August 26), with uncertainty if the singer will recover in time for the weekend with the group set to headline the Castle Stage on Saturday (August 29).

The message from Bastille read: “Hi everyone, it’s Dan here on behalf on behalf of the band.

“I’m really gutted to have to let you know that due to quite a serious vocal issue I’m having, we’ve had to pull out of our upcoming show at SZIN Festival on Wednesday.

“I’ve been struggling with a vocal issue which has made it pretty difficult to talk or sing recently.

“I’ve been doing my best to manage the situation and my voice but I saw an ENT doctor and was advised that complete vocal rest is the only way to allow my vocal cords to heal properly and avoid further serious damage”.

He apologised to fans and reassured them it wasn’t a decision he had “taken lightly”.

Festival goers in Portsmouth this weekend will be keeping a close eye on if the band makes an appearance at their next show in Halifax on Friday, August 28.

But a spokesperson from Victorious said that it was expecting the band to perform as planned.

They said: “We’ve been in close contact with the Bastille camp and they’re looking forward to being back on stage on Saturday!"
