It’s sweltering outside - and if you have young children then splash parks are one of the best ways of keeping cool.
We are blessed with some good ones around here, with special mention to those in Alverstoke and Lee-on-the-Solent - and Southsea Castle’s fountains at dusk when the lights come on.
So now the temperature is rising, you know what to do...

1. Lee-on-the-Solent
The Lee-on-the-Solent splash park opened in 2019, and has hanging buckets and a tunnel of spray. It's next-door to a playground, giving extra ways to entertain children | Local Library

2. Canoe Lake, Southsea
The splash pad next to the playground at Canoe Lake. It's certainly more inviting than the lake itself! | Local Library

3. Southsea Castle fountains
The fountains near Southsea Castle on Brian Kidd Way are a magnet for people wanting to cool off. Here are John Millington and Shane Davis in 2022 | Habibur Rahman
